The precursor product of lithium battery ternary composite positive electrode material is made of nickel salt, cobalt salt and manganese salt.

The ratio of nickel, cobalt and manganese can be adjusted according to actual needs. Batteries with ternary materials as positive electrodes are safer than lithium cobalt oxide batteries.

The ternary precursor material needs to be obtained with the help of a continuously stirred tank reactor(CSTR) , which is achieved by co-precipitation reaction of salt solution, alkali solution and ammonia solution through a metering pump in a certain proportion.

During the whole process, the slurry that has been reacted will overflow from the reactor, and then go through a series of processes such as filtration, washing, filtration, and drying to produce the finished precursor material.

Application

Ternary co-precipitation reactor is not limited to the preparation of lithium battery ternary precursor materials.

It can be widely used in petroleum, chemical, rubber, pesticide, dye, medicine, food and other industries to complete vulcanization, nitration, hydrogenation, polymerization, condensation and other process.

A Study of Co-precipitation Synthesis Using Semi-batch Reactors

The synthesis of precursors for lithium- and manganese-rich xLi2MnO3•(1-x)LiMO2 (M = Ni, Mn, Co) (LMR-NMC) materials is generally carried out via co-precipitation using a continuously stirred tank reactor (CSTR) under steady-state conditions. But during the early stages of research (e.g., when screening compositional spaces of interest), using a CSTR in steady-state mode can be time consuming and wasteful. An alternative is to operate the reactor in semi-batch mode, which shortens reaction times and reduces the amount of waste.
